Denver dental bondingMany people strive to make New Year's resolutions at the start of a new year. For some, it's hitting the gym. For others, it's restoring their smile. Dental bonding is a very beneficial procedure that can help enhance your already beautiful smile. But how, exactly, does dental bonding restore your teeth?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic dentistry solution that should be considered for the following:

  • Repairing decayed teeth
  • Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
  • Improving the appearance of discolored teeth
  • Closing spaces between teeth
  • Making teeth look longer
  • Changing the shape of teeth
  • Protecting a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed due to receding gums

Dental bonding is among the easiest and least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures. A tooth-colored resin material is applied to your teeth and hardened with a special UV light, leaving your smile sparkling and strong.

There are many benefits to this procedure, including:

  • Little to no removal of enamel, retaining the health and natural structure of your tooth
  • Less extensive procedure when compared to veneers or crowns
  • Anesthesia is not required (unless being used to fill a cavity)
  • Highly customizable depending on your needs

To fully determine if dental bonding is the right cosmetic dental procedure for you, our dentists will meet with you in person to discuss your oral healthcare goals and needs. Together, we will formulate your personalized treatment plan to help you get the smile you want to achieve.

If you are in the Denver area and would like to learn more about your cosmetic dentistry options, give our office a call at 303-566-4036 to schedule your initial consultation.

Denver teeth whiteningNearly everyone aims to have a bright, white smile that portrays youth and vitality. There are various professional teeth whitening options available that can help you achieve the smile of your dreams. However, there are other at-home teeth whitening remedies that are gaining popularity, such as the use of charcoal. It's important to know the risks of this natural, at-home teeth whitening trend so you can help protect and maintain your healthy smile.

Even though charcoal has the ability to absorb bacteria, toxins and stains on your teeth, dentists around the United States are warning patients against using charcoal as a whitening agent. This is due to the high potential of irreversible long-term effects.

Charcoal is a very abrasive substance. It can work its way into the inner layer of your teeth called the dentin, ultimately damaging your enamel over time. Other long-term effects associated with using charcoal as a teeth whitening agent may include:

  • An uneven, blotchy appearance
  • Teeth are susceptible to deterioration and erosion
  • Gums and teeth become vulnerable to infection

Instead of opting for a teeth whitening solution that delivers inconsistent results all while putting the health of your smile at risk, our dentists at DeWitt Dental Associates encourage you to learn about our professional teeth whitening solutions, including:

  • Zoom! Laser Teeth Whitening
  • Opalescence® Teeth Whitening at Home

To fully determine which professional teeth whitening procedure is right for you, our experienced team will meet with you in person to discuss your oral healthcare goals and needs. Together, we will work to formulate your personalized treatment plan to help you get the smile you want to achieve.

However, knowing what to do in a dental emergency can be the key to a successful outcome. Be sure to follow these tips during a dental emergency to ensure your child gets the proper care they need to keep their smile healthy and strong:

  • Stay calm: When you are calm, your child is calm. Be sure to keep the two of you at ease throughout the entire process to help reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Keep knocked out teeth moist: If your child knocked out one of their permanent teeth, keep it moist until you see our dentists. Depending on the situation, we may be able to save and reattach the tooth.
  • Keep affected areas clean: If your child knocked out a tooth, sustained an oral injury or developed an infection, keep the affected areas clean by rinsing with warm water.

Denver laser dentistryAt DeWitt Dental Associates, we provide our patients with the latest technology that will make your procedure more comfortable all while providing lasting results. Laser dentistry is one of the many advanced tools we offer to enhance both your experience and your smile. But what, exactly, is laser dentistry?

Laser dentistry is a practice that uses state-of-the-art soft tissue lasers that makes your dental treatment more precise, effective and comfortable. This technology is used for general dentistry and cosmetic applications, including:

  • Removing excessive gum tissue: Some patients do not like the appearance of their smile due to excessive gum tissue. In this procedure, the soft-tissue laser painlessly and quickly removes targeted areas of your gums to create a healthy looking smile. This is called gum re-contouring.
  • Treating gum disease: Nearly half of all adults in America suffer from some form of gum disease. Fortunately, detection and proper treatment can help prevent other serious health problems caused by gum disease. Laser dentistry reduces the bacteria and plaque buildup between the tooth and the gum line, restoring your oral health.

Laser dentistry comes with many benefits, including:

  • Minimally invasive
  • No incisions or sutures
  • Sterilizes target areas during treatment
  • Precise procedure

To fully determine if this treatment is right for you, our dentists will meet with you in person to discuss your oral care goals and needs. Together, we will design a personalized treatment plan to help give you the smile you want to achieve.

Cherry Creek dental implantsMissing teeth can cause a myriad of serious dental health issues, such as additional tooth loss and jawbone deterioration. Fortunately, if you have missing teeth our team at DeWitt Dental Associates can provide you with a solution. We offer patients in the Cherry Creek area dental implants to help avoid these major problems and repair your smile.

Prior to opting for this beneficial procedure, patients oftentimes ask the question, "Do dental implants look natural?" The short answer is yes, dental implants look very natural when they are completed. But how, exactly, does this treatment achieve a natural looking outcome?

Ultimately, dental implants replace the missing tooth from root to crown. Although the implant itself plays an important role, the dental crowns are what significantly affect the appearance of your results. By utilizing digital tooth impressions and computer-aided technology, each crown we create is customized specifically to your dental needs.

Made of high quality dental porcelain, crowns mimic natural teeth in the following ways:

  • Can be matched to the color, shade and shape of your teeth
  • Possess the same translucent, luster and light reflecting properties as your natural teeth
  • Are very durable and stable, making them feel like your own teeth
  • Can withstand chewing and biting forces similar to that of your teeth

Because this permanent solution blends in seamlessly with your smile, the results are very natural and can last for years.

Our experienced team will listen to your dental goals and needs to determine if this procedure is right for you. During your consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to help deliver the sparkling smile you want to achieve.

If you are in the Cherry Creek area and would like to discuss your dental implant options with our dentists, give our office a call at 303-566-4036 to schedule your initial consultation.

Denver dental bondingCosmetic dentistry can help deliver the smile you want to achieve. Within this field of dentistry, there are many procedures that can create beautiful results, including dental bonding.

Dental bonding is a process that enhances the appearance of your teeth. Essentially, this minimally invasive procedure involves the application of a tooth-colored resin. Using adhesives and a high intensity curing light, the materials are bonded to the tooth.

This beneficial dental treatment addresses aesthetic issues, including:

  • Chips in your teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Discolored teeth

Dental bonding comes with many benefits, such as:

  • It's less expensive when compared to other treatments
  • The results look natural and are long-lasting
  • Dentists are able to match the material to your natural tooth color
  • It's a simple in-office procedure

If our dentists find that you have more in depth issues that can't be fixed with dental bonding alone, we may recommend other cosmetic dental treatments, such as porcelain veneers. To fully determine which procedure is right for you, our experienced dentists will meet with you in person to discuss your current and future dental care goals. Together, we will construct a personalized treatment plan to help deliver a dazzling smile.

If you are in the Denver area and would like to discuss your dental bonding options with our team, give our office a call at 303-566-4036 to schedule your initial consultation.
