Denver teeth whiteningEveryone wants a bright, white smile that reflects youth, health and vitality. Teeth whitening treatments are a great way to achieve sparkling results. But are there other ways you can obtain dazzling pearly whites?

Eating healthy can help you enhance your already beautiful smile. There are certain fruits, veggies and other health foods that can naturally remove stains from your teeth, ultimately whitening your tooth enamel over time, including:

  • Apples
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Celery
  • Oranges
  • Pineapples
  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Cheese

These foods help whiten your teeth is several different ways, such as:

  • Fiber-rich foods rub against the surface of your teeth, acting like a toothbrush getting rid of stains.
  • Tart foods increase saliva production, which in turn acts as a natural teeth-cleaning agent.
  • Dairy products protect your teeth against tooth decay.

However, healthy foods alone will not deliver the same results as in-office teeth whitening treatments. Fortunately, the dentists at DeWitt Dental Associates offer various whitening treatments that can help deliver a smile that is up to eight shades whiter with just one procedure. Treatment options include:

  • Zoom! Laser Teeth Whitening
  • Opalescence® Teeth Whitening at Home

To fully determine which teeth whitening treatment is right for you, and how you can properly maintain your bright, white smile, our dentists will meet with you in person to discuss your oral healthcare goals and needs. Together, we will formulate your personalized treatment plan to help you get the smile of your dreams.

If you're in the Denver area and would like to learn more about your teeth whitening options, give our office a call at 303-566-4036 to schedule your initial consultation.

Denver cosmetic dentistWith Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's important to look and feel your best, starting with your smile. However, not everyone is confident with the way their smile looks. Fortunately, if you are spending the holiday with your sweetheart, there are cosmetic dental procedures and other general treatments that can help you prepare for your date.

Teeth Whitening

Millions of Americans suffer from tooth discoloration or stubborn stains on their teeth. Having discolored teeth can make you appear older than you really are. Teeth whitening can help brighten your smile, and restore your youthful look. With advanced technology, it's possible to get your smile up to eight shades whiter in just one office visit.

Regular Cleanings

Even if you don't need a teeth whitening procedure, regular teeth cleanings and exams are important in maintaining a healthy, vibrant smile. To get ready for your date, call your dentist to schedule a last minute office visit. This can help address underlying issues that may cause bad breath and tooth decay.

Dental Bonding

If you're self-conscious about a cracked or chipped tooth, dental bonding may be the answer you need to restore your smile. This simple procedure involves a dental material that is bonded and shaped to look like your natural teeth. Dental bonding allows you to restore your smile without undergoing a complicated, invasive procedure.

As you prepare for your Valentine's Day celebration, be sure to think about more than just the outfit you wear or the restaurant you're going to. Research suggests that people take note of another person's smile in order to form a first impression. Our cosmetic dentists at DeWitt Dental Associates can help.

To fully determine which cosmetic dentistry procedure is right for you, we will meet with you in person to discuss your oral healthcare goals and needs. Together, we will work to formulate your personalized treatment plan to help you get the smile you want to achieve.

Denver dental bondingMany people strive to make New Year's resolutions at the start of a new year. For some, it's hitting the gym. For others, it's restoring their smile. Dental bonding is a very beneficial procedure that can help enhance your already beautiful smile. But how, exactly, does dental bonding restore your teeth?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic dentistry solution that should be considered for the following:

  • Repairing decayed teeth
  • Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
  • Improving the appearance of discolored teeth
  • Closing spaces between teeth
  • Making teeth look longer
  • Changing the shape of teeth
  • Protecting a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed due to receding gums

Dental bonding is among the easiest and least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures. A tooth-colored resin material is applied to your teeth and hardened with a special UV light, leaving your smile sparkling and strong.

There are many benefits to this procedure, including:

  • Little to no removal of enamel, retaining the health and natural structure of your tooth
  • Less extensive procedure when compared to veneers or crowns
  • Anesthesia is not required (unless being used to fill a cavity)
  • Highly customizable depending on your needs

To fully determine if dental bonding is the right cosmetic dental procedure for you, our dentists will meet with you in person to discuss your oral healthcare goals and needs. Together, we will formulate your personalized treatment plan to help you get the smile you want to achieve.

Denver teeth whiteningNearly everyone aims to have a bright, white smile that portrays youth and vitality. There are various professional teeth whitening options available that can help you achieve the smile of your dreams. However, there are other at-home teeth whitening remedies that are gaining popularity, such as the use of charcoal. It's important to know the risks of this natural, at-home teeth whitening trend so you can help protect and maintain your healthy smile.

Even though charcoal has the ability to absorb bacteria, toxins and stains on your teeth, dentists around the United States are warning patients against using charcoal as a whitening agent. This is due to the high potential of irreversible long-term effects.

Charcoal is a very abrasive substance. It can work its way into the inner layer of your teeth called the dentin, ultimately damaging your enamel over time. Other long-term effects associated with using charcoal as a teeth whitening agent may include:

  • An uneven, blotchy appearance
  • Teeth are susceptible to deterioration and erosion
  • Gums and teeth become vulnerable to infection

Instead of opting for a teeth whitening solution that delivers inconsistent results all while putting the health of your smile at risk, our dentists at DeWitt Dental Associates encourage you to learn about our professional teeth whitening solutions, including:

  • Zoom! Laser Teeth Whitening
  • Opalescence® Teeth Whitening at Home

To fully determine which professional teeth whitening procedure is right for you, our experienced team will meet with you in person to discuss your oral healthcare goals and needs. Together, we will work to formulate your personalized treatment plan to help you get the smile you want to achieve.

Be sure to follow these tips during a dental emergency to ensure your child gets the proper care they need to keep their smile healthy and strong:

  • Keep knocked out teeth moist: If your child knocked out one of their permanent teeth, keep it moist until you see our dentists. Depending on the situation, we may be able to save and reattach the tooth.
  • Keep affected areas clean: If your child knocked out a tooth, sustained an oral injury or developed an infection, keep the affected areas clean by rinsing with warm water.

Denver laser dentistryAt DeWitt Dental Associates, we provide our patients with the latest technology that will make your procedure more comfortable all while providing lasting results. Laser dentistry is one of the many advanced tools we offer to enhance both your experience and your smile. But what, exactly, is laser dentistry?

Laser dentistry is a practice that uses state-of-the-art soft tissue lasers that makes your dental treatment more precise, effective and comfortable. This technology is used for general dentistry and cosmetic applications, including:

  • Removing excessive gum tissue: Some patients do not like the appearance of their smile due to excessive gum tissue. In this procedure, the soft-tissue laser painlessly and quickly removes targeted areas of your gums to create a healthy looking smile. This is called gum re-contouring.
  • Treating gum disease: Nearly half of all adults in America suffer from some form of gum disease. Fortunately, detection and proper treatment can help prevent other serious health problems caused by gum disease. Laser dentistry reduces the bacteria and plaque buildup between the tooth and the gum line, restoring your oral health.

Laser dentistry comes with many benefits, including:

  • Minimally invasive
  • No incisions or sutures
  • Sterilizes target areas during treatment
  • Precise procedure

To fully determine if this treatment is right for you, our dentists will meet with you in person to discuss your oral care goals and needs. Together, we will design a personalized treatment plan to help give you the smile you want to achieve.
